"Library is a growing organism" said Dr. S.R. Ranganathan, Father of Library Science in India. The library of our Institute has followed this precept faithfully and has grown from strength to strength in the past one decade of our existence. The activity of providing library facilities to the students and staff started along with the starting of academic programmes. The library activity of UCETW started with the setting up of library for College of Engineering in 2013. The Institute library initially started with 387 books in a room of 50 Sq.m. at the time of inception, has grown to a collection of 8,722 books occupying an entire room of 90 Sq.m. at the ground floor of the college.

A library is a collection of sources of information and similar resources, made accessible to a defined community for reference or borrowing. It provides physical or digital access to material and may be a physical building or room, or a virtual space, or both. A library's collection can include books, periodicals, newspapers, manuscripts, films, maps, prints, documents, microform, CDs, cassettes, videotapes, DVDs, Blu-ray Discs, e-books, audiobooks, databases, and other formats. Libraries range in size from a few shelves of books to several million items. Sidney Sheldon perfectly describes: “Libraries store the energy that fuels the imagination. They open up windows to the world and inspire us to explore and achieve, and contribute to improving our quality of life.”

Laura Bush in her famous quote said: “I have found the most valuable thing in my wallet is my library card.” Visit your library, get your library card, and you’ll be able to borrow a print or electronic book, use free internet, or attend a course that will improve your digital skills.

The libraries of the world are under threat. Jon Bing makes a point “To ask why we need libraries at all, when there is so much information available elsewhere, is about as sensible as asking if roadmaps are necessary now that there are so very many roads.” Eleanor Crumble Hulme says “Cutting libraries during a recession is like cutting hospitals during a plague.”
