The University College of Engineering & Technology for Women was established in the year 2013 in the SDLCE building with four branches (EEE, ECE CSE & IT) with an intake of 60 students in each branch.
The NSS Unit was sanctioned to this college on 4th February, 2014 with single unit. Now the college has II units. Each unit consists of 100 students (NSS Volunteers). The purpose of NSS is to develop a sense of social and civic responsibility among them. It also helps to utilize their knowledge in finding practical solutions to individual and community problems. To acquire leadership qualities and democratic attitude.
The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a program in India that encourages students to participate in community service activities and contribute to social development.
Motto of NSS
The motto of NSS is "Not me but you".
There are three important components for NSS. NSS programme officer, who is a member of teaching faculty, who provides leadership to the volunteers. NSS volunteers, who are students and main beneficiaries of NSS programmes, develop their personality.
Some of the common activities organized by UCETW NSS units include :
Blood donation camps: NSS units often organize blood donation drives to address the shortage of blood in hospitals and promote awareness about the importance of blood donation.
Cleanliness drives: NSS volunteers participated in cleanliness campaigns, such as Swachh Bharat, to promote cleanliness and hygiene in their communities.
Tree plantation: NSS units organized tree plantation drives to promote environmental conservation and combat deforestation.
Health camps: NSS volunteers often conduct health camps where they provide basic healthcare services, check-ups, and awareness programs on various health issues.
Awareness campaigns: NSS units raise awareness on social issues such as literacy, women empowerment, encouraged girl child education in government schools, and environmental conservation, drunken drive through campaigns, rallies, and workshops.
Skill development programs: NSS organized skill development programs to empower students with communication skills, personality development skills, cultural programms, quiz, and knowledge enhancing their employability.
